Wayne Clifton Dowlin (b. 12/18/50) of Ambler, PA, loving husband, father, step father, brother, uncle, and great uncle died on September 16, 2022 in his home after a long illness. He was born in North Wales, PA and raised in Ambler, PA. He graduated from Wissahickon High School in 1968 and was a student at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, PA. Wayne was an exceptional athlete having played in Little League (where he hit a grand slam home run to win the championship on the team his dad coached) and was on his high school baseball team where he played shortstop. He also excelled at golf (where he was the Club Champion for Oak Terrace Country Club and he scored two holes in one) and basketball. He was a trombonist having performed in his high school marching and concert bands and a self taught outstanding singer, songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist. He and his musical partner David Fiorenza performed in many coffee houses and other events. Wayne was always a spiritual, loving, and kind person and devout Christian having been a member of the North Wales Baptist Church since childhood where he sang in the choir and performed guitar for the Worship Team. He was a hard worker who held various jobs in his life including being a bellhop, dishwasher, YMCA camp counselor, a print shop apprentice, a mail man (when he lived in Santa Barbara, CA) and finally becoming a school bus driver for the First Student Bus Company. When he lived in California Wayne adopted a son, Jonathan Duong, who came to PA with him and has since married and has two children of his own with Rhoda, his wife. On 2/14/02 Wayne married Natividad Collera of the Philippines whom he met and fell in love with online. He became father to her two sons (Francis and Benson) who traveled with her to the USA and on 3/4/04 Natividad gave birth to their son, Daniel Jacob. Wayne taught Daniel how to play guitar and supported his son’s musical talents. Wayne spoke several languages including Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. Wayne also was well known for his “punny” sense of humor. He kept his family and friends laughing constantly. He will be very missed by us all.
Wayne is survived by his wife Natividad; sons Daniel, Katsuyuki (Francis), Benson, and Jonathan, sisters Joan and Ruth (Black), (Nancy passed in 2007); nieces Valerie (Burchett), Pamela (Neave), (Nephew Mark Wilner passed in 2019); three great nieces, three great nephews, and two step grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at the North Wales Baptist Church, 136 Shearer Street, North Wales, PA on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2 PM with a gathering at 1 PM.
