Richard Wentz Obituary

Richard W. Wentz, Sr., 91, of Sneads Ferry, NC, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021, in Quakertown, PA.  Richard was born in Palmerton, PA to Howard and Mary Wentz, on October 4, 1930.  He graduated from Palmerton High School and went on to Penn State University for three years.  After completing his third year at Penn State he was called to serve in the Army during the Korean War.  Upon his discharge after serving two years in the Army he returned to college at East Stroudsburg University and obtained his Bachelors degree in Education.  While at East Stroudsburg University he met and fell in love with Priscilla A. Uhler.  They married on August 31, 1957.  Richard continued his education at Temple University where he received his Masters degree in Education.  He began his career as a teacher and then principal in the Upper Moreland School District and subsequently moved to the Council Rock School District where he was the principal of Sol Feinstone Elementary School for twenty-five years.  He was an avid golfer well into his 80’s, a life-long Penn State fan, loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends.  Richard is survived by his wife Priscilla, his 6 children, Tammy Schiferl (David), Richard Wentz, Jr. (Lisa), Robert Wentz (Joyce), Jennifer Cataldi (John), Scott Wentz (Bridgette), Stephen Wentz (Heather).  He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, Cherise Klohe (Cory), Lehann Joerger (Bill), Heather Baker (Joe), Richard Wentz III (Danielle), Molly Wentz, Ashley McDermott (Montana), Rachael Wentz, Tyler Wentz, John Cataldi Jr., Nicholas Cataldi, Stephanie Wentz, Joshua Wentz, Sarah Dodson (Jared), Ethan Wentz and Tessa Wentz, and 7 great grandchildren, Kayla & Paige Klohe, Cadence & Brooke Joerger, Hunter & Sienna McDermott and Myles Baker.

 

A memorial service and luncheon to celebrate Richard’s life will be held on January 8, 2022 beginning at 11:00AM, at Calvary Chapel Central Bucks, 150 E. Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA 18914.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
