Arthur L. Luke

Arthur Lawrence Luke, 73, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, February 11th, 2023.  Known by friends and family as “Art” or “Rusty,” he was born July 3, 1949 in Philadelphia to Arthur and Irene Luke (née Baxter). His fondest memories included his time at Kentmore Park, Maryland, where he cultivated his love of boating, water skiing (barefoot!), and eating blue claw crabs. His love for the Chesapeake Bay was unending, and he donated to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation up until his final months.  It was in Kentmore Park that he met his future wife, Janice (née Eisele). High school sweethearts who shared 52 years of married life together, Arthur is survived by Janice as well as their three daughters, Alicia Luke (John Korp), Tiffany Battles (John Battles), and Brittany Luke (Michael Fuski), as well as his two grandsons, Lukas and Max Battles. He was preceded in death by his parents and several beloved family dogs.  In addition to his love of the water, Arthur was a voracious reader, a lover of music, and an avid “car guy” – requesting his daughters take his car for a new paint job even in his final hours.

The family will hold a private memorial service on an as-yet-to-be-determined date.“
