IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rebecca S.
Allan
October 28, 2024
Rebecca S. Allan passed away too soon, on October 28, just before her 48th birthday, after a five-year battle with cancer, surrounded by family and loved ones in her mother's home, next door to her own, on a property they shared in Furlong, PA. Born in Princeton, NJ, Rebecca lived her early years in Bucks County, attending Newtown Junior High and Council Rock High School. After graduation, she studied at University of the Arts, where she earned a BA in Photography. She subsequently worked in the restaurant business and event production before starting her own business, ReebsReDesign, where she specialized in upholstery and one of a kind handmade home décor made from reclaimed furniture and unique textiles, with some of the area's finest hotels as clients. She settled and lived for 20 years in Philly, a city she loved so much she tattooed its latitude and longitude on her wrist. A ray of light for family and friends, she was beautiful, affectionate, funny, smart and kind. Her sense of style and beauty was innate, revealing itself in the way she dressed, how she curated her home, and in her artistic pursuits. She had an impeccable eye. From her talent for photography, first learned from her dad, to her passion for thrifting to her design business, her aesthetic was all her own. She was widely and deeply beloved, with a big family and even bigger circle of friends. She did not tolerate arrogance or snobbery and never had an unkind word about anyone, often befriending and fiercely defending those who lacked her easy manner. She was simultaneously the life of the party and happily on the sidelines with anyone left alone, both the coolest and nicest person in the room.
She cared deeply about family and friends, always interested in what anyone had to say. Her inner calm and sense of being at peace with herself only deepened in her final years. Even in her last days, when she rarely spoke and barely opened her eyes, her bedside was crowded by people who just wanted to be near her. Rebecca, or Reba to friends, lived life to the fullest. At 19, she took her first big trip, driving cross country with a cousin and two friends. In later years, she seized every opportunity to travel with friends and family, both in the US and as far away as Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Greece, Spain, Italy, France, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Even during her final months, when she was in constant pain, she managed trips to Vermont and the Jersey Shore with friends and to Utah and France with family. She is survived by her beloved mother, Margaret "Peggy" Allan (née Veith), her younger brothers -- Jeremy, and his wife, Rebecca (née Shepherd), and their children John and Grace, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; and Peter and his partner, Michelle Negrón, her daughter, Celeste, and their son, Emilio, of Feasterville-Trevose; and her faithful pit bull rescue, Winnie. She is predeceased by her father, John Allan. She also leaves behind numerous loving cousins, and devoted aunts and uncles and countless loyal friends.
A tree planting and celebration of her life is being planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, plant a garden, plan a trip or spend time with those you love.
