Obituary

Judith Wynn Cooke, 88, of Elverson, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at Frederick Living. She was the beloved wife of the late William Cooke, Jr.

Born in Norristown to the late Warren J. "Dutch" and Maxine Wynn, Judy was a standout athlete and Hall of Fame inductee at Norristown High School. She earned her B.S. and M.A. from West Chester University and worked as a speech-language pathologist and audiologist with the Chester County Intermediate Unit, in private practice, and in a local medical office.

In the 1950s and '60s, she raced sports cars in road and hill climb events. She was active in women's sports and golf leadership, serving with the PIAA, Pennsylvania State Women's Golf Association, Keystone State Games, and the USGA Senior Women's Committee. A two-time women's golf champion at Spring Ford Country Club, she also officiated swim meets and supported youth athletics.

Judy found great joy in her faith, family, and deep love for animals. She was especially close to her mule, Sadie, and her miniature pony, Piglet, who brought her endless joy. They are now thriving in the care of Furvivors Wonderland, a comfort to all who knew how much they meant to her.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Joan Wynn, wife of the late Warren James Wynn, Jr.; nieces, Cynthia Cook (Matthew) and Karen Iobst (Joseph); nephew, Jeffrey Wynn (Susan); and grandnieces and grandnephews: Benjamin Cook (Caylin), Tyler Cook (Mara), Chelsea Iobst, Perri Iobst (Will Turner), Olivia Iobst (Dominic), Adam Hartzell (Jessica), and Samantha Gordon (Andrew). She is also survived by nine great-nieces and nephews and many extended family members who cherished her deeply.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Furvivors.org/donate or Frederickliving.org/charitable-giving. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
