Obituary

Edward E. Bruker of Fox Chase, Philadelphia and recently of Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA, departed this life Tuesday, December 23, from complications of lymphoma. Ed was born in Lehighton, PA in 1936 to parents George F. and Myrtle I. Bruker (Remaley) and graduated from Lehighton High School in 1954 and later the Thaddeus Stevens Institute, now the College of Technology in Lancaster, PA. Ed was a veteran and served in the National Guard for eleven years during the Korean War, Lebanon Crisis and the Cuban Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed by Bell Telephone (later Verizon) as a manager of circuit layout until his retirement in 1999.

Ed was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Huntingdon Valley, where he was active with the men’s fellowship and helped locally with combating food insecurity. He was a ham radio enthusiast and assisted with several local bicycling and running fundraisers that traveled to the New Jersey shore. In 1984 in conjunction with his employer he used his ham radio skills to track the Olympic torch runners across the country to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. One of Ed’s and his wife’s favorite pastimes was collecting vintage jewelry and other artifacts.

Ed is predeceased by his wife Jane T. Bruker (Benton) and brothers, George F. Bruker and James F. Bruker. He is survived by his twin sister, Evelyn I. Treganowan (Bruker) and cousin Shirley Hammond of Macungie, PA, and various nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 570 Welsh Rd, Huntingdon Valley. Visitation will be at 10:30, service at 11:00, with a luncheon following the service at the church.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Lymphoma Society (https://bloodcancerunited.org) and Gloria Dei Church, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
