IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Cavanaugh
Ehrmann
November 12, 1939 – March 13, 2025
Catherine Cavanaugh Ehrmann, 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 13, 2025. She was a 36-year resident of West Norriton, PA, and previously lived in Carmel, NY, for 20 years. Born in Auburn, NY, a beautiful area of the Finger Lakes region, she remained connected to her roots throughout her life.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Wenzel Cavanaugh and John J. Cavanaugh Jr; her siblings, Carol Cavanaugh Nervina and John F. Cavanaugh; and her first husband, George David Galbally.
She is survived by her devoted husband of over 58 years, Anthony J. Ehrmann, tenderly referred by her as "AJ", her brother Tom (Linda), sister-in-laws Joyce Cavanaugh, Valerie Pachote and her loving children: David Galbally (Renee), Steven Ehrmann (Lorena), Colleen Zaccaro (Mark), and Kelly Ehrmann (Pat). She was a cherished grandmother to Ursula, Katelyn, Sean, and Dylan and adored her great-grandson, Angelo. Cathy will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Cathy was a 1957 graduate of West High School in Auburn, NY and in the 1970's returned to school and earned her degree from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She had a rewarding career as a registered nurse at Northern Westchester Hospital, where she advanced to the role of Assistant Head Nurse of the CCIU and CCU. Cathy loved her time at the hospital, where she formed close bonds with her coworkers and found fulfillment in her work. Her compassion and desire to help others extended long after her retirement.
Cathy cherished her summers at Long Beach Island, NJ, alongside her husband, AJ, and her sister, Carol, a fellow sun lover. She often made her way to Atlantic City, eager to try her luck at the slots. In later years, AJ and Cathy loved cruising. She shared cruising with her family including her sister Carol, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Linda.
In recent years, Cathy found joy in life's simple pleasures – wearing a cozy hoodie, gazing out the kitchen window with AJ, eagerly awaiting the arrival of wildlife, and savoring a delicious chocolate bar. But nothing brought her more happiness than watching videos of her great grandson, Angelo and visits from her family. Cathy brought energy and laughter wherever she went—her humor and warmth will be deeply missed.
A service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in Auburn, NY, where she will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery alongside her parents and sister Carol.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( alz.org )
